Open Coil Heaters

Open coil heating elements are highly efficient and cost-effective solutions for industrial and commercial heating applications. These elements consist of coiled resistance wire—typically Nichrome (Ni-Cr) or FeCrAl (Iron-Chrome-Aluminum)—mounted on an insulating support structure. When electric current passes through the wire, it directly heats the surrounding medium with minimal thermal loss.

Technical Considerations:
Minimum face velocity of air must be maintained to avoid overheating

Face velocity is calculated using:
Face Velocity = CFM / Face Area

Current draw must be calculated to ensure safe power distribution:
Amps = (kW × 1000) / (Voltage × 1.732)
Heaters should be divided into circuits drawing no more than 48 amps.

Proper airflow and frame sizing are essential to dissipate heat and ensure safe operation. Factors such as kW rating, element type, and frame size must be considered during selection.
